OVER A DECADE IN THE MAKING

Northwright is two old words — north, the direction you steer by, and wright, the old name for a maker who builds by hand. Direction and craft, in one word. It's the whole philosophy — and it's a decade in the making.

Long before the studio had a name, I spent ten-plus years learning both halves inside some of the most demanding rooms in the business. I led digital design for a business unit of a global medical-device brand, where the standards were exacting and "close enough" didn't exist — brand systems that had to hold up across a heavily regulated, worldwide business. I was the primary brand steward at a technology company, where I owned whether a brand stayed itself across every touchpoint it had. And across enterprise logistics, engineering, and agency work, I built the same muscle over and over: make the brand consistent, make it ship, make it right.

That range is what Northwright is built to offer. On one end, brand identity and design systems — the direction, the rules, the whole world a mark lives in. On the other, the execution most studios stop short of: web and front-end design built to ship, CMS governance that keeps a brand consistent long after launch, and the ongoing marketing production that keeps it alive between big projects. Direction and build, under one roof, so nothing gets lost in the hand-off.

Northwright is all of that, pointed at your project directly. The compass and the hands, ten years of them, with no hand-off in between. Steer true. Build it right.

Ross Winnekins

Founder and Principal Designer

Ross Winnekins is a brand and digital designer with over a decade of experience building identities and the systems that keep them intact. He led digital design for a business unit of a global medical-device brand, where exacting, heavily regulated standards taught him that a brand is only as good as its consistency — and has since carried that discipline across technology, enterprise logistics, and agency work. Ross founded Northwright on a simple conviction: the person who sets a brand's direction should be the same person who builds it. He works across the full range, from brand identity and design systems to web, front-end, and the production craft that gets work shipped — direction and execution from one set of hands.
